Firesuit casually peeled to his waist, Denny Hamlin joked with Kyle Busch and conferred with crewmembers while waiting to qualify Friday at Kansas Speedway. About 10 feet behind Hamlin’s No. 11 Chevrolet, Kyle Petty was in a similarly jovial mood, calling over a reporter for a playful chat.
